My Musical Fidelity X-T100 amp had developed a couple of issues – interference on one of the speaker outputs and a sometimes unresponsive channel select button. I wanted to get the unit repaired and having spoken to John I decided that it made sense to go for an upgrade at the same time.
John had already upgraded my matching X-Ray v8 series cd player a while back with great results, therefore I had no doubts about going ahead with the amplifier too.
I have had the unit back a few weeks now and I have to say I am stunned at how good it sounds. It would be very easy to be sceptical or put upgrades down to how it sounds to the listener’s ear. But honestly the upgrade has really transformed the sound quality. These units always sounded good, but when listening now it’s like chalk and cheese. The overall sound stage and depth of sound makes it a real pleasure to listen to. You can hear every detail and follow each instrument / voice as if they have been separated out and are performing live. The sound is far less cluttered and can be enjoyed at any volume. I have really achieved what I wanted – a superb sending little setup at a relatively modest cost.
My advice if you’re considering an upgrade… go for it, you will be impressed, the detail is amazing !
